LARKANA: The district police barred Umme Rubab , who is pursuing the case of her slain family members, from entering former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s Mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bux today (Sunday).
Umme Rubab’s father, grandfather and paternal uncle were killed in January 2018, within the remit of Faridabad police station in Mehar taluka of Dadu district.
She has been fighting their case ever since. Her case was highlighted when she walked barefoot to protest against feudalism in Sindh.
Earlier this week, she announced that she would take her protest to the Bhutto family mausoleum, prompting the police to cut her off before she could even get there.
Upon her arrival, the district police closed the main gate of the mausoleum and barred her from entering the mausoleum. In this regard, the police officials said that the gate was closed after apprehensions about any unpleasant incident at the place.
Meanwhile, the local administration has also deployed a large contingent of police at the place to maintain law and order. Recently IG Sindh Mushtaq Mehar apologized to Umme Rubab over the failure of police in arresting absconders allegedly involved in the murder of her family members.
Talking to media after the meeting with the IG Sindh, she said that the police have failed to arrest absconding culprits. However, she said, IG Sindh has assured me that the police will soon arrest the culprits.
She had earlier said that her father, uncle and grandfather were gunned down by two former PPP MPAs and demanded the arrest of the murderers.
