KARACHI: Police arrested a suspected robber in Karachi’s Orangi Town area after the robber injured by his own pistol during mugging bid on Wednesday.
According to police sources, a street criminal identified as Irfan tried to loot a citizen in Orangi town no-5. However, the citizen offered resistance to the robber on which the robber opened fire.
Police added due to mishandling of his own pistol, the bullet hit him, causing injury, police said. The police said adding that people than intercepted the injured robber and handed him over to the police after beaten up severely.
Police said a pistol, looted mobile phones and drugs were also recovered from his possession. Last month in January 2020, a suspected robber was injured by an angry mob in the Korangi area of the metropolis.
As per details, two robbers were fleeing after looting and injuring a citizen near Korangi No-1. However, the area people chased the suspected robbers, overpowered one of them and beat him up ruthlessly.
As a result, he suffered serious injuries, while his accomplice managed to flee. The area police and Rangers reached the spot and took the mugger into custody from the angry mob. The police resorted to aerial firing to disburse the angry masses.
Later, police shift the injured to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for treatment, JPMC doctor said the injured was in critical condition.
