QUETTA: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has stated that the PTI government has put the ongoing projects in Gwadar on hold, despite billions of rupees being spent, the public has not benefited.
The Prime Minister inaugurated the foundation stone of various projects in Gwadar and distributed relief checks to deserving fishermen, as well as laptops to students.
Addressing the gathering on this occasion, the Prime Minister said that every minute in Gwadar is filled with peace and happiness, Balochistan is a beautiful province that Allah has blessed with countless resources.
Shahbaz Sharif said that in the past, Balochistan was deprived of basic resources, but we laid the foundation of public projects for the development of Gwadar and Balochistan. We provided relief in flood-affected areas.
He stated that the Balochistan government also utilized its resources, and Balochistan, including Gwadar, is rich in natural resources like Rekodiq. Despite billions being spent in the Rekodiq dispute, the people did not benefit.
The Prime Minister said that Gwadar is one of the deepest seaports in the world. Large weighty ships can anchor here. In the past, the cleaning of Gwadar Port was not carried out, which caused damage to the port. We have started the cleanliness work, and soon large ships will start arriving in Gwadar, benefiting the local population.
He emphasized that Pakistan has overcome the risk of default, and measures should be taken for the progress and happiness of Balochistan. He spoke about the cleanliness of Gwadar Port, saying that 600,000 tons of cargo arrived during the last 15 months. We have to turn Balochistan into a great region of development, and protecting those who invest here is our responsibility.
The Prime Minister further said that from the last budget, one lakh laptops were distributed, and from the current budget, another one lakh laptops will be distributed. The laptop budget for Balochistan will be increased from 14% to 18%. We aim to make Gwadar Port the best port in the world.
