ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Sunday proceeded on a five-day official visit to the United States.
The prime minister will attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 78) in New York. He is scheduled to address on forum on September 22.
During his stay, the prime minister will hold meetings with the global leaders on the sidelines of the session, PM Office Media Wing said.
The caretaker prime minister will also attend an important conference on climate change. PM Kakar is also scheduled to interact with the international media and visit prominent US think tanks.
In his address, the Prime Minister will outline Pakistan’s perspective on a range of regional and global issues including Jammu and Kashmir dispute which is among the longstanding unresolved items on the UN Agenda.
He will also elaborate on the significant measures being taken by the government to consolidate Pakistan’s economic recovery and efforts to mobilize domestic and external investments.

Earlier, the Foreign Office confirmed that the prime minister will visit New York from September 18 to 30 and will address the UNGA session on September 22.
During his address, the premier will highlight the need to help developing nations achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations (UN). He will also meet with other world leaders on the sidelines of UNGA
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to United Nation Munir Akram said PM Kakar will also participate in an SDG summit during his visit to the UN headquarters.
The United Nations will convene the SDG summit in New York on Sept 18-19, during the General Assembly high-level week.
“The prime minister will be speaking about the mobilisation of finance for SDGs,” Ambassador Akram said. “The main thing, of course, will be his address to the General Assembly, which will be an annual policy statement.”
The prime minister will also make a keynote at a summit on financing for development, the envoy said.
