LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Punjab Government to focus on increasing investment opportunities while taking full advantage of public-private partnerships for provincial and national development.
Chairing a briefing on fiscal and economic policies of Punjab, the prime minister emphasised to give special attention on practical steps and strategy for completing the annual development projects on time.
PM Imran Khan said the people should be kept abreast of welfare works of the incumbent government. He said Ease of Doing Business and other positive indicators in economy need to be conveyed to people in an effective manner.
Imran Khan said people should be informed of the comparative analysis of loans received by previous governments and their utilization with economic policies as well as loans received by the present government.
The prime minister was apprised of Fiscal Policy and Economic Policy targets of Punjab government for the current fiscal year.
Punjab Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht, while briefing the meeting, said provincial government is in a better position to achieve the targets of first quarter of current fiscal year in comparison with previous year.
He said the development budget of current fiscal year has witnessed a significant increase and special attention is being paid on projects of social welfare. However, the provincial government is facing problems due to subsidy on Orange Line Metro Train and similar projects.
The provincial minister for food also gave a briefing to the prime minister on price of wheat. The prime minister directed to take special measures to ensure that the prices of wheat and flour and other items of daily use are available at minimum rates.
