ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked his cabinet colleagues to show ‘extraordinary performance’ to come up to his expectations and get out of the prevailing ‘extraordinary situation’ in the country.
According to sources, PM Imran Khan informed his cabinet members, including ministers, special assistants and advisers, that they will be judged on the basis of their performance and not on briefings that they give him.
Sources further said PM Imran said the cabinet members and other government functionaries will be required to apprise him on the actual facts about progress made towards implementation of the government’s decisions.
Sources informed that the prime minister had appreciated the performance of a few ministers and hinted at elevating them to the level of federal ministers.
The prime minister has decided to send those failing to deliver packing and not to spare those found involved in delaying tactics, sources added.
The PM maintains a record of official figures given by government departments and ministries during briefings to keep a track of their performance, the sources added.
PM Khan said the country was currently at the crossroads and his government could not afford the option of not performing, adding that he believed in the fact that no country could make progress without poverty alleviation.
