PM arrives in China on two-day official visit
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has arrived in China in the wee hours of Tuesday on a two-day official visit to discuss the bilateral significance.
Upon arrival in Beijing, the prime minister was received by the Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Luo Shugang, Pakistan’s ambassador to China Naghmana Hashmi and other officials.

The prime minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation including the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Khusro Bakhtiyar and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razzaq Dawood.
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa also reached Beijing, hours before the prime minister’s arrival.
The prime minister is expected to meet Chinese leaders and discuss important affairs such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Kashmir dispute.
The prime minister has been invited by Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China HE Li Keqiang.
According to a foreign office statement, the prime minister will exchange views on regional developments including the state of peace and security in South Asia arising from the situation in Indian occupied Kashmir (IoK) since 5th August.
It added that there would be interaction with senior representatives of the Chinese business and corporate sector as well for deepening bilateral trade, commercial and investment partnerships.
The prime minister will also participate in the closing ceremony of the Beijing International Horticulture Expo, as a chief guest, where Chinese PM Li Keqiang will be the host.
The upcoming official visit will be the third tour of Prime Minister Imran Khan to China in 2019.
