Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided not to increase the prices of petroleum products, despite rising oil rates in the global market.
The Prime Minister stated that the government is refraining from raising petroleum prices to ease the burden on the common man.
He added that, as promised, the government will provide as much relief as possible to the public during these challenging times.
He further noted that due to regional tensions, the global economy is currently under pressure, which could have serious repercussions for Pakistan’s economy as well.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the government is working to manage the situation through timely policy measures and financial discipline. He also expressed a commitment to easing the burden on the poor during difficult times, starting with the elite and the government itself.
Last Friday, the government increased of Rs55 per liter in the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel.
The ex-depot petrol price was revised to Rs321.17 per liter, up from the previous rate of Rs266.17 per liter. This adjustment represents a 17 percent increase in petrol prices.
