Sindh govt takes a U-turn on New Year Eve's pillion riding ban
KARACHI: The Sindh Home Department on Monday midnight will implement imposition of Section 144 in Karachi to prevent any untoward incident or raucous behaviour on New Year’s Eve.
According to a notification issued by the department, Section 144 will be implemented from midnight (Monday) and remain in effect till January 1.
Pillion riding will be banned immediately after implementation. The government has also banned the display of weapons, aerial firing and the use of firearms on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad Police has also announced its plan of action for New Year festivities.  A spokesperson for the Islamabad police said action will be taken against one wheeling, riding motorcycles without silencers, and driving cars or bikes without a number plate.
He added hooliganism will not be allowed in the capital at any cost. He added that imposition of Section 144 and a ban on show of arms is already in place in the capital.
