PIC attack: FIR lodged against lawyers under anti-terrorism act

LAHORE: A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against a mob of lawyers under the anti-terrorism act for attacking the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) hospital.
The FIR was lodged in Shadman Police Station in Lahore against the lawyers a day after the attack. The group of lawyers was arrested earlier on Wednesday with the help of CCTV footage installed in the PIC hospital.

The police arrested 34 lawyers who tortured hospital staff, patients and their relatives who had come to visit them. The footage showed that the lawyers forcibly entered into the hospital in a group form and threw everything they could find.
They broke windows, expensive equipment of the hospital, particularly in the emergency ward, using batons and sticks.

Meanwhile, lawyers summoned a general house meeting at the Lahore High Court today to discuss future strategy.
The lawyers will also observe a complete strike today and have decided to lock the district courts. Neither police officials nor any litigant will be allowed to enter the court premises.
Reportedly, the lawyers have also planned to thrash media persons and have decided against allowing them to enter the court.
