Parts of Karachi are facing a shortage of petrol and diesel, it emerged on Tuesday.

According to the details, there is a shortage of petrol and diesel in various areas of Karachi. Petrol and diesel have become scarce at multiple petrol pumps in areas such as Shahra-e-Faisal, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, FB Area, and Saddar.

The petrol pump owners have stated that they have not received the supply of petroleum products from oil marketing companies. They also mentioned that it will take some time for the supply of petroleum products to return to normal as the oil marketing companies had halted the supply by imposing an approved increase in rates.

Earlier in the day, the government increased the price of petrol by a whopping Rs19.95 per litre.

The announcement was made by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in a video statement, mentioning that the step was taken in line with “national interests”.

He announced to raise the price of petrol by Rs 19.95 per litre, and the price of high-speed diesel by Rs19.90.

After the increase, the price of petrol has reached Rs272.95 per litre, while the price of diesel has reached Rs273.40 per litre.
