Performing Taraweeh allowed in Saudia Arabia

MAKKAH: Saudi King has allowed all the citizens for performing Taraweeh after imposing a ban on prayers within the premises of mosques due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to details, the Two Holy Mosques Custodian King Salman bin Abdulaziz recently approved performing Taraweeh and limiting the number of Rakat to ten.

Saudi Arabia also planned to ease curfew hours it imposed on several cities in order to allow people more time to shop for essential commodities within the boundaries of their neighborhoods.

Last month, Saudi Arabia imposed a ban on daily prayers and the weekly Friday prayers inside and outside the walls of the two mosques to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The congregational prayers have also been suspended in all other mosques in the country. Saudia Arabia has so far reported more than 10,000 cases and over 100 deaths from the deadly virus.

Globally, more than 171,000 people have died and around 2.5 million people are said to be infected as Coronavirus spreads to 176 countries.

The epicenter of the outbreak shifted from China to Europe and now to the US, which is witnessing a rapid rise in coronavirus cases.  

Last week, at least 35 foreigners killed and the other four got injuries in a traffic accident in Medina. Most of the passengers were Asian and Arab pilgrims.
