LAHORE: Opposition party Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has convened a summit of the parties in the alliance.
According to the sources, the meeting convened under the chairmanship of Maulana Fazlur Rehman will be held at 2 pm today. The meeting will be attended by Chairman PP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PML-N Central Vice President Maryam Nawaz, ANP’s Mian Iftikhar, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, and Akhtar Mengal.
Professor Sajid Mir, Dr. Abdul Malik, and Shah Awais Noorani will also attend the meeting chaired by Ameer Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman. The PDM summit will hold consultations on the Larkana meeting.
Yesterday, PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari addressed the gathering in Lahore, at Minar-e-Pakistan where a long march to Islamabad, by late January or early February, was announced by the PDM. The event was hosted by the PML-N.
Even though the organisers of the rally had asked the attendees to reach the venue at 2 pm, hundreds of supports gathered there early on despite the cold weather, enthusiastically chanting slogans, carrying flags, and warming up the atmosphere.
PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz in her address urged supporters to answer the call for a march to Islamabad, while PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari formally announced that PDM is now headed to the capital. Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the march will take place in late January or early February.
