ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) report has stated that the inflation rate jumped above 9.20 percent.
According to the statistics, prices of 25 items including eggs, chicken, flour, and sugar have gone up while prices of nine items including onion, potato, garlic, and lentils, and lentils have gone down.
In addition, prices of 17 items remained stable while inflation for the week ended 16th October was higher than the previous week. The report said that the prices of 51 items were compared in 17 different cities of the country while the prices of 25 items increased. The prices of nine items also remained stable.
Two days ago, Finance Advisor Abdul Hafeez Sheikh said that we have inherited economic difficulties but now steps are being taken to improve the economy.
“In the past, the dollar has been deliberately kept cheap, which has hurt our economy,” he said by adding, “When the dollar became cheaper, our country started importing everything from grapes to toothpaste. In the past, the dollar has been devalued and passed on to other countries.”
