Pakistani police conduct towards citizens has often faced criticism, with many asserting that the police generally lack respect for ordinary individuals, including women and senior citizens. However, a positive shift seems to be underway, as some police officers are now working to change this perception.
Notably, Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Gandapur has taken a proactive step to improve police behavior. He has instructed his team to demonstrate respect towards teachers by saluting them. The directive is comprehensive, extending from constables to senior officers, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging teachers whenever they encounter them.
DPO Gandapur emphasized, “Whenever a teacher visits a police station or post, they should be saluted first. Teachers deserve special attention, and their concerns should be addressed promptly without unnecessary delays. Even if teachers make minor mistakes in public, they should be warned politely and respectfully.”
It is essential to highlight that in Pakistan, teachers often do not receive the respect they deserve, both from the government and the general public. DPO Gandapur’s initiative seeks to address this issue by fostering a culture of appreciation and consideration for educators within the police force.
