ISLAMABAD: A team of young engineers has developed an electric rickshaw that will be soon introduced in the market.
Muhammad Zarif, the young rickshaw makers said that they had made all the parts of the ride except the motor. Motor-powered rickshaws have fewer parts than engines and thus cost less than other rickshaws.
Due to being on electricity, the oil will not have to be changed while many other parts including paint and piston were not used in this rickshaw. Another man named Murtaza Zaidi said that the electric rickshaw will be able to save more than Rs 200,000 worth of gas and petrol annually.

Beautifully designed, this rickshaw is comfortable and produces far less noise than others. The rickshaw is environmentally friendly and does not cause noise pollution.
It may be recalled that the Senate has approved the Electrical Vehicle Policy for the manufacture of electric vehicles at the local level to reduce environmental pollution in Pakistan.
Under the policy, motorcycles, rickshaws, buses, trucks, and cars will run on electricity in the first phase and implementation in the second phase will gradually save 70 percent of petrol and diesel.
According to the policy, 500,000 to 1 million electric vehicles will be brought on the highways by 2030. By 2030, 30 to 40 percent of the country’s vehicles are targeted to be electrified.
