ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to launch a plan of Rs500 billion to tackle the implications of the heavy burden of stunting and malnutrition in the country.
Prime Minister’s Special Adviser on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza said, “We are creating Pakistan’s largest public-sector project based on human nutrition,” while addressing an event on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiative in Islamabad.

The conference, related to current health Situation and opportunities in Pakistan, which was coordinated jointly by the Ministry of National Health Services, Aga Khan University, Aga Khan Foundation-Canada, University of Toronto, and the International Research Center for Development in Canada.
It was the third such policymakers and development experts meeting that aims to establish detailed coordinated plans to help Pakistan achieve its growth priorities.
Dr. Mirza said the initiative, which was in the closing stages of obtaining Public Sector Development Program clearance, will use intersectoral partnerships to incorporate the 12 most tested dietary strategies.
