ISLAMABAD: A detailed report has revealed the “staggering” monthly salaries of heads of various state-run institutions in Pakistan, exposing high remuneration packages in multiple public sector organisations amid the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
According to the report, several chief executives and managing directors in Pakistan’s public sector are receiving monthly salaries exceeding Rs10 million, with some crossing the Rs15 million mark.
The Managing Director of Pak-Kuwait Investment Company earns over Rs15.37 million per month, while the MD of Pak-Oman Investment Company receives Rs12.88 million. The head of Pak-Iran Investment Company is reportedly paid Rs9.71 million monthly.
In other institutions across Pakistan, the President of National Bank receives around Rs9 million per month, while the MD of Pak-Libya Holding Company is paid approximately Rs8.81 million. The President of Zarai Taraqiati Bank draws a salary of around Rs5.5 million.
The CEO of PRAL earns Rs5.2 million, whereas the President of EXIM Bank receives Rs5 million monthly. The Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan is reported to draw a monthly salary of Rs4 million.
Additionally, the CEO of Pakistan Single Window earns around Rs2.65 million, the President of First Women Bank more than Rs2.2 million, and the Chairman of the Competition Commission of Pakistan about Rs1.1 million per month.
The report also highlighted that heads of investment companies in Pakistan receive additional allowances and benefits, including a 15 percent allowance for the PRAL CEO and an additional Rs89,000 allowance for the Pakistan Single Window chief.
