ISLAMABAD: Another 40 people have died in Pakistan due to the coronavirus and the total number of deaths has risen to 7,843.
According to figures released by the National Command and Operations Center, 3,306 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of victims to 386,198.
In Pakistan, 334,392 coronavirus patients have recovered and 43,963 are undergoing treatment. The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad is 28,555, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 45,828, Sindh 1,67,381, Punjab 1,16,506, Balochistan 16,942, Azad Kashmir 6,403 and Gilgit-Baltistan 4,583.

The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus is in Punjab where 2,923 people have lost their lives. 2,866 people have lost their lives in Sindh, 1,344 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 297 in Islamabad, 96 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 165 in Balochistan, and 152 in Azad Kashmir.
The second wave of coronavirus has started in Pakistan and SOPs will have to be strictly followed to deal with it. According to the NCOC, the coronavirus epidemic is spreading rapidly in 15 cities across the country. Eighty percent of coronavirus cases in Pakistan were reported from eleven major cities.
Provincial governments have been directed to make SOPs and masks mandatory in markets, shopping malls, public transport, restaurants. Citizens have been asked to wear masks when leaving their homes.
