Pakistan records 400 new COVID-19 cases, tally reaches 279,800

ISLAMABAD: The coronavirus has claimed nine more lives in Pakistan, bringing the total number to 6,244.

According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operations Center, 496 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours.

The number of corona cases in Pakistan has reached 293,261 and the active cases are only 10,188. Across the country, 276,829 virus victims have recovered.

Sindh tops the list with 128,284 corona cases while Punjab has 96,233 people affected. 35,766 cases have been reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,515 in Islamabad, and 12,527 in Balochistan. The number of coronavirus cases in Azad Kashmir is 2,254 and in Gilgit-Baltistan, it is 2,682.

The coronavirus has caused 2,188 deaths in Punjab and 2,367 in Sindh. The death toll from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is 1,248, Islamabad 175, Balochistan 141, Gilgit-Baltistan 64, and Azad Kashmir 61.

Now, life in Pakistan is getting largely back to normal, and the last vestiges of partial lockdown restrictions are being lifted. Restaurants have reopened. Only schools and universities, along with marriage halls, remain shut until next month.

According to the government, the graph of coronavirus cases in Pakistan is constantly declining, but the threat is not over yet.

A warning for the re-emergence of coronavirus in Muharram has been issued. Officials say that effective measures against the coronavirus during the month will curb the spread of the virus.
