Pakistan Railways to outsource 15 more trains

Pakistan Railways has announced auction of 15 trains on June 16 in Lahore.

As per the formal advertisement, the auction of the trains will be held on June 16 at the Railway Headquarters in Lahore, where the process will be completed through open bidding.

According to reports, certain private companies have been declared eligible to participate in the auction. The trains planned to be operated with private sector cooperation include Hazara Express, Awam Express, Karakoram Express, Karachi Express, Millat Express, Fareed Express, Bahauddin Zakaria Express, Ravi Express, Lasani Express, Thal Express, Mianwali Express, Sukkur Express, Narowal Passenger, Sialkot Express, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz Passenger.

It was further reported that one company had previously acquired the Mianwali Express but returned it after some time, citing various reasons.

Railways shuts down 8 trains amid rising fuel costs
Pakistan Railways has temporarily suspended the operations of eight passenger trains due to rising diesel prices and increased operational costs. According to railway officials, the continuous surge in petroleum product prices, along with low passenger turnout on certain routes, has made it financially difficult to sustain regular train services. As a result, the administration decided to suspend multiple services in order to reduce fuel expenses.
