The federal government has officially launched the National Immigration Policy 2026, marking a significant step toward making overseas employment for Pakistanis more secure, well-regulated, and dignified.

The policy aims to equip skilled Pakistani workers with internationally recognized competencies, safeguard their rights abroad, and streamline the legal migration process by making it more transparent and efficient.

Presenting the policy framework in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to supporting Pakistanis seeking better employment opportunities and brighter futures overseas.

He noted that the global labor market is evolving rapidly, with countries increasingly competing to attract highly skilled workers. In this changing environment, he said, Pakistan must equip its youth and workforce with the modern skills required to remain competitive in international markets.

According to the minister, the central objective of the new policy is to provide Pakistani workers with advanced technical and professional training so they can meet global industry standards and improve their long-term employment prospects abroad.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain said that approximately 12 million Pakistanis are currently living in different parts of the world. He described the overseas Pakistani community as the country’s true ambassadors, noting that they not only project a positive image of Pakistan internationally but also make a vital contribution to the national economy.

Referring to recent economic data, the minister stated that overseas Pakistanis remitted more than US$41 billion during the last fiscal year, setting a record and providing significant support to the country’s economy.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the transparent and effective implementation of the National Immigration Policy 2026. The policy places particular emphasis on expanding technical and vocational training, protecting the rights of Pakistani workers abroad, improving the governance of the migration system, and maximizing the economic benefits of overseas employment.
