Following passwords and sensitive information of more than 180 million users have been stolen globally, Pakistan’s National Cyber Emergency Response Team (N-CERT) has issued an advisory.
As per details, passwords and sensitive information of more than 180 million users have been stolen, due to which users of major companies, including Google, Facebook, and Apple, have been affected by the global data leak. N-CERT has also issued an advisory on this.
According to the advisory of N-CERT, information from government portals, including Instagram, Snapchat, was also stolen. Information about user accounts was stolen globally.
Users should immediately change the passwords of their accounts. Data leaks may lead to identity theft, account hacking, and cyber attacks. Government institutions and financial accounts are also likely to be affected. The systems of government and sensitive institutions may also be at risk, the advisory warned, and recommended users to use a password manager.
The advisory of N-CERT said that never keep passwords in email or unsecured files, update anti-virus and security software, keep an eye on unusual logs, institutions should take immediate steps to inform affected users, if immediate steps are not taken, the national digital system may be affected.
