The National Curriculum Council of Pakistan (NCCP) made a groundbreaking announcement on Monday, revealing a comprehensive overhaul of the curriculum for classes nine through twelve with the addition of 62 new subjects. This marks a significant update, the first in 28 years.
The Director of NCCP confirmed the revamping of a total of 38 subjects across classes nine through twelve. Notably, Trade Fair Technical Education and Technical Subjects have been introduced as optional subjects in the National Council’s curriculum.
In the realm of technical education subjects, the Director unveiled a notable expansion. The update includes 10 new technical subjects, 14 upgraded technical subjects, and the incorporation of 38 optional subjects for classes nine through twelve.
The implementation of new educational content will begin in the first phase in Sindh, focusing on optional subjects for ninth to eleventh classes in the upcoming academic year.
The technical education subjects have been broadened to encompass diverse fields such as Medical Technology, Fashion Designing, Dress Making, Graphic Designing, Media Production, Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, and Data Coding.
Upgraded technical subjects cover a range of areas including Advertising, Telecommunication Technology, Solar Construction, Computer Application, Computer Hardware, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and Event Management.
Furthermore, the curriculum expansion includes subjects like Food Processing, Conservation, Motor Winding, Automation and Robotics Technology, Welding, and Woodwork.
In a move towards global inclusivity, the NCCP Director announced the addition of several global languages as subjects in the new curriculum. Students will now have the option to study Chinese, French, Persian, and Arabic as part of their academic journey.
