A comparison of regional fuel prices has highlighted that Pakistan currently has some of the highest petrol rates among neighbouring countries, increasing pressure on consumers already facing rising living costs.
According to the comparison, petrol in Pakistan is priced at approximately Rs414.78 per litre, significantly higher than rates in several countries across the region.
Among neighbouring states, petrol prices were listed at around Rs370 per litre in Sri Lanka, Rs360 in China, Rs302 in India, and Rs288 in Bangladesh. Prices in Afghanistan and Maldives were also reported to be lower than those in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Iran continues to maintain exceptionally low domestic fuel prices due to heavy government subsidies.

The rising cost of petrol in Pakistan has become a growing concern for the public, with higher fuel prices contributing to increased transportation costs, inflation, and pressure on household budgets.
Economists say fluctuations in global oil prices, currency depreciation, and taxation policies remain key factors influencing domestic fuel rates.
Public reaction on social media has also intensified, with many users expressing concern over the widening gap between fuel prices in Pakistan and those in neighbouring countries.
