The federal government has decided to provide relief to the aviation sector by reducing the price of commercial aircraft jet fuel, following a recent cut in kerosene prices.
According to official details, the government has reduced the price of jet fuel by PKR 7.15 per liter, bringing the new rate to PKR 231.72 per liter.
The price reduction is expected to significantly lower airlines’ fuel expenses and provide financial relief to the aviation industry.
Media reports, citing official sources, indicate that the decrease in jet fuel prices will help airlines reduce their operational costs, which is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s aviation sector. It is worth noting that before the recent tensions and attacks involving Iran, the price of jet fuel stood at PKR 188 per liter.
Earlier, the government also announced that while petrol and diesel prices would remain unchanged, the price of kerosene would be reduced.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) subsequently issued a notification confirming a PKR 6.85 per liter reduction in kerosene prices.
As a result, the price of kerosene has decreased from PKR 233.90 per liter to PKR 227.05 per liter.
However, many members of the public believe that meaningful relief will only be achieved through reductions in petrol and diesel prices, which directly affect transportation and the overall cost of living.
