ISLAMABAD: The federal government has formally issued an order authorising the deployment of Pakistan Army troops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to assist the civil administration in view of the prevailing situation in the province.
Under Article 245 of the Constitution of Pakistan, the deployment of army personnel and the provision of necessary resources across the province have been approved. According to the official notification, the deployment will remain in place for the duration of the orders imposed under Articles 232 and 234 on October 11, 2026.
The order states that the primary objective of the deployment is to protect the lives and property of citizens and ensure comprehensive security at government installations. The army will assist the civil administration in restoring and maintaining law and order during this period.
Governor to Determine Number of Troops
According to sources, the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will determine the final number of troops and military resources to be deployed in the province following consultations with the Military Operations Directorate at General Headquarters (GHQ).
The formal notification regarding the army deployment is expected to be published soon in Part II of the Gazette of Pakistan.
