ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin said that Pakistan stood in the top 3 in Economist normalcy index for the third consecutive time,
No other country has achieved this in the world, the minister said this on his official twitter account. He said this is reflected in the revised Gross Domestic Products (GDP) growth of 5.37 percent in FY21, the second best in the last 14 years.
“Moving on with the structural changes, inclusive growth and policy actions, Bloomberg have also recognized that Pakistan has entered the decade of sustained growth,” he said. The minister said that the next ten years will help reduce income disparity, increase employment and improve human development.
A dar earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan congratulated the Finance Minister and his team on achieving GDP growth of 5.37% in three years, which led to creation of substantial jobs and rise in per capita income.
The prime minister highlighted that international economic organizations like Bloomberg and the Economist had recognised Pakistan’s successful economic reforms and initiatives taken during the Covid pandemic savings jobs and lives.
PM Imran Khan stressed to the Finance Minister to initiate steps to improve the economic well being of the urban lower and middle class population which had been affected by the imported inflation.
Both have regularly discussed the ongoing global commodity price super cycle which had adversely affected inflation and trade deficit in Pakistan. The finance minister that the local food prices had been declining since December as reflected in the SPI.
He hoped that as soon as the international prices will drop the pressure on imported goods will reduce as well. The prime minister also expressed satisfaction over tax collection, exports and remittances.
