Pakistan received $4.251 billion in workers’ remittances during May 2026, marking a strong increase both on a monthly and annual basis, according to data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The robust inflows, led by contributions from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, pushed cumulative remittances for the first eleven months of FY26 to $38.1 billion, providing continued support to the country’s external sector.
Remittance inflows recorded strong growth, rising 20.2% compared to April 2026 and increasing 15.4% from May 2025.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances, with overseas Pakistanis sending $1.025 billion in May 2026. The figure was 12% higher than the $914 million received in May 2025 and 22% above the $842 million recorded in April 2026.
Remittances from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) surged to $1.007 billion in May, up 33% from $754 million in the same month last year. On a monthly basis, inflows from the UAE rose by 37%.
Meanwhile, remittances from the United Kingdom stood at $645 million, marking a 15% increase from $564 million in April 2026.
Overseas Pakistanis residing in the United States sent $350 million during May, reflecting a 10% rise compared to $317 million in the previous month.
Remittances from European Union (EU) countries also showed positive growth, reaching $466 million in May, up 8% from $432 million recorded in April 2026.
