Oil supply was discussed during Imran Khan’s visit: Russian diplomat
KARACHI: Russian Consul General Andrey Fedorov has admitted that the supply of oil to Pakistan was discussed during the visit of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to Russia.
According to details, Andrey Fedorov, while addressing a press conference in Karachi yesterday, said that oil supply was discussed during the visit of former premier Imran Khan to Russia but Pakistan did not contact Russia on this issue.
In the wake of US sanctions on his country in the wake of the Ukraine war, the Russian consul general said sanctions could affect Pakistan-Russia trade relations, but that Russia would provide cheap oil if the Pakistani government cooperated.
Russia’s Consul General on the Ukraine war said that at the moment there is no immediate solution to the conflict and that Ukraine is not taking peace talks seriously. According to him, sanctions can affect bilateral relations.
Earlier, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail had said that the PTI government had not written a letter to buy oil from Russia. Former Minister of State Hamad Azhar said that Russia was keen to sell oil at discounted prices.
