The United Arab Emirates has long been an attractive destination for unskilled Pakistani workers. However, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, believes that those days are coming to an end. He predicts that in the future, unskilled workers from Pakistan will find it increasingly difficult to secure jobs in the Gulf country.
In an interview with Gulf News, Ambassador Tirmizi said the need for Pakistan to focus on training skilled professionals, including accountants, IT specialists, bankers, AI experts, physicians, nurses, and pilots, to meet the growing demands of the UAE job market.
“With the UAE’s demand for skilled workers continuing to rise, the opportunities for Pakistan are vast if the country focuses on enhancing its workforce’s skills,” he added.
The UAE has consistently been a key trading partner for Pakistan in the MENA region, and the current focus is on attracting more investments from the Emirates into Pakistan.

Tirmizi also highlighted the surging global demand for physiotherapists and nurses, not just in the UAE, but worldwide. “We need world-class nursing facilities in Pakistan,” he said, envisioning a future where Pakistani professionals are in high demand globally.
He further explained, “If we train our people in these high-demand sectors, they can step into high-paying roles with salaries starting at Dh20,000 and above, which is a significant increase compared to the Dh1,000 and above that our current unskilled workers are earning.”
