ISLAMABAD: The government has conferred Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country’s highest civil award, to Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic.
The award was given to him in recognition of his contribution for strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bosnia by President Dr Arif Alvi during an investiture ceremony held at the presidency. Dzaferovic played a vital role in this regard as speaker and president of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Later in a meeting with the visiting dignitary, President Dr Arif Alvi has urged the need to translate goodwill between Pakistan and Bosnia and Herzegovina into substantive cooperation. He added that the Chairman’s visit would further strengthen and deepen the fraternal relations between the two countries.
Both leaders underlined the need for further expansion in the bilateral relationship in diverse areas including political, economic, cultural, defence and people-to-people contacts.
President Alvi apprised Chairman on the grave and systematic human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He added that India’s belligerent attitude was a threat to regional peace and security.
The two leaders affirmed that both countries would continue to extend mutual support on issues of core national interest. They also agreed to work closely in areas of mutual interest.
