Newly married couple killed, three injured in road mishap

MANDI BAHAUDDIN: A newly married couple was killed and three others sustained injuries in a traffic accident in Mandi Bahauddin in the wee hours of Sunday.

According to rescue sources, a fast-moving tractor-trolley hit two cars near Roze Wali Puli in the Mandi Bahauddin area. As a result, a couple suffered injuries and died on the spot, while three others sustained severe injuries in the deadly accident.

The deceased were identified as a 28-year-old man, Irfan and his wife Maryam, aged 26. Sources said that the young couple had got married in Bahauddin, three days before the accident.

Sources further said that the deceased was returning home from Sargodha after attending a wedding ceremony when they met with the road accident.

Receiving information about the accident, rescue officials with ambulances reached the scene and shifted the bodies and injured to a nearby ho9spital.

On the other hand, police said that the vehicle driver is under police custody in injured condition in the hospital, adding that case would be registered after his statement. The condition of one injured was stated to be danger, said sources.
