Karachi police have ramped security measures in response to last month’s terrorist attack near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport, which tragically claimed the lives of two Chinese nationals and another person.
As per reports, police have blocked a main road leading to the airport and established additional checkpoints along key routes, including those from Star Gate and Pehlwan Goth. The heightened security aims to ensure a safer environment around the airport premises.
Moreover, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is set to implement stricter entry protocols as part of broader security enhancements.
The road from Model Colony to Jinnah Terminal has been closed, causing traffic to be rerouted through Sharea Faisal. These diversions have disrupted traffic flow and created challenges for airport staff, passengers, and employees traveling to the airport.
New entry requirements for Karachi airport
- Visitors accompanying passengers to the airport must now carry both a copy of the airline ticket and their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
- Airport entry for those receiving or seeing off passengers requires presenting a copy of the traveler’s ticket at checkpoints.
- Entry will be denied to anyone without a copy of the ticket.
- A maximum of four individuals may accompany each passenger into the airport.
- Those arriving to meet passengers must carry their original CNICs for verification at security checkpoints.
