KARACHI: New oil and gas reserves have been discovered in the Matiari district of Sindh, this was said in a report to Pakistan Stocks Exchange(PSX) in a report by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL).
in the report, PPL has announced the discovery, revealing a joint venture with Mari Petroleum Company in Adam Block 2. The exploration has resulted in the identification of new oil and gas reserves in three wells within the Hala region of Matriari. Notably, the Adam well, drilled to a depth of 3,421 meters, is anticipated to contribute to the country’s growing reserves.
The Adam 2 well specifically revealed gas reserves of 6 million cubic feet per day. Officials highlighted that last year also witnessed the discovery of new oil and gas deposits in various areas of Sindh.
Recent production commencement from the Hyderabad and Deharki oil and gas fields, integrated into the central system, indicates positive developments in the energy sector. The quest for additional oil and gas reserves in the Sindh province remains ongoing.
It is worth noting that the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) achieved a significant breakthrough in December last year with the discovery of substantial oil and gas reserves in Sindh.
According to OGDCL’s spokesperson, the Dars well yielded 8.51 million standard cubic feet per day of gas and 360 barrels per day of crude oil, marking a substantial success in exploration efforts.
