QUETTA: A new case of poliovirus has been reported in Balochistan, according to the health department.
The Balochistan Health Department said that the health department, the virus was confirmed in a 16-month-old baby in the Gulistan area of Qila Abdullah.
The parents of the infected child did not vaccinate their child against polio. The number of polio-affected children in Balochistan has risen to 25 this year after a new case came to light. Two months ago, two cases of poliovirus were reported in Balochistan.

According to the health department, a four-year-old child was diagnosed with polio in the Chilton Town area of Quetta while a 15-month-old child was diagnosed with polio in Barshur Tehsil of Pishin. The number of polio cases reported in Pakistan so far this year has risen to more than 76, compared to 147 confirmed last year.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan held a telephonic conversation with philanthropist Bill Gates and exchanged views on the COVID-19 situation and polio eradication efforts in Pakistan.
