In a culinary turn that has set the internet abuzz, Mumbai-based baker Heena Kausar Raad finds herself amidst controversy for hosting a Barbie-themed party featuring a surprising dish – pink biryani.

The Barbie craze, which took the world by storm recently, has enthusiasts incorporating various shades of pink into their lifestyles, including fashion and food. However, Heena’s fusion of this trend with the cherished biryani tradition has sparked intense debate.

The Barbie-themed gathering, dedicated to all things Barbie, showcased a range of treats influenced by the iconic doll. The highlight of the event, stirring the most controversy, was a dish served in a container filled with pink biryani alongside matching pink raita and other themed dishes. Heena proudly showcased her culinary creations on Instagram.

“Doesn’t the Barbie biryani look delightful?” asks Heena in the video, unveiling a pot of pink masala and rice. The video transitions to Heena preparing pink raita, explaining, “Since the biryani is Barbie-themed, the raita must match. It’s not like I’ll serve Ken raita.”

The dish, blending traditional biryani ingredients with a whimsical pink touch, has elicited a range of reactions, from awe to disbelief. Many expressed disappointment at what they saw as an unnecessary alteration to the traditional biryani. “Delete this immediately before I vomit on my phone,” commented one IG user. “How dare you do this to my biryani,” exclaimed another.

“Ruining two of my favorite things simultaneously takes real talent,” lamented one critic, while others demanded ‘justice’ for biryani. “Biryani should remain biryani, come on,” declared another, with one person even threatening legal action, stating, “I’m going to sue you for this outrage.”

In a lighter vein, some commenters injected humor into their disapproval. “Biryani, we’re ashamed of you,” dramatically quipped one. Another expressed how visually jarring the pink theme was, stating, “I only have two eyes, so I can’t even look away.”

A few comments appreciated the creativity behind the dish and its creator. “Next, please make Barbie nihari and Barbie kulche,” requested one IG user. Another jokingly suggested, “This would be perfect for a gender reveal.”
