A clip of the mini web-series Ms. Marvel has gone viral in which a glimpse of the partition of Pakistan and India has been portrayed Pakistani netizens are not happy with it.
As we all know, the storyline of the web series is based on the Marvel character Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, is a young girl hailing from Pakistan. Now in a recent episode, the makers showed the partition of Pakistan and India, which happened in 1947. In the series, the narrative of the partition of the Indo-Pak subcontinent was shown evidently twisted, as per the netizens.
In one scene, Kamala said, “My passport is Pakistani, my roots are in India.” To her statement, her grand mother replied, “And in between all of this, there is a border marked with blood and pain, people are claiming their identity based on an idea some Englishmen had when they were fleeing the country.”
Well, the scene was not well received by social media users and they accused the makers of the web series of distorting the historical background of the partition.
Pakistani users demanded that the British-Pakistani writers need to correct their facts as they are solely pleasing the Indian audience. For them, the dialogue scene with grand mother and Kamala is a slap in the face of Pakistan.
Another user wrote: “This is why westerners shouldn’t be incharge of making films based on Pakistani culture Completely disregarding Quaid’s vision for the nation!” One of the users posted: ‘MsMarvel Ep 4 is white washing history and spreading lies. This is not the representation we want.’
