While watching ‘Monica, O My Darling’, one thought would occur in your mind and that is the movie is more than a thriller.
It’s a blend of comedy, and mystery, with a huge splash of musical elements. The movie keeps you hooked to the screen from the start to the end and that is what makes ‘Monica, O My Darling a unique film.
P.S. Major Spoilers Ahead
“Monica, O My Darling” is the official adaptation of Japanese author Keigo Higashino’s novel “Brutus’ Heart.” Those who have watched the movie already know several people were tangentially involved in the same agenda which was saving themselves and for that, they ended up sabotaging each other, knowingly or unknowingly.
The movie ended with Rajkumar Rao’s character, who managed to escape death until the end, being stuck with two deadly poisonous snakes; the question remains… does he really die in the end?
The movie is mainly about three men (played by Sikandar Kher, Bagavathi Perumal, and Rajkummar Rao) who work in the same office and plan to murder Monica, their office colleague and a woman they have been having an affair with. They decided to kill her as she blackmails them of the affair and she is expecting a child too.
They make a perfect plan; among the three, one will kill Monica, another one will carry a body to the destination and the third one will bury the body.
Everything goes according to the plan until the next day the two men find Monica healthy and alive at the office and later find out the body they dumped was of their third partner and from here, things take quite interesting turns.
They think Monica killed their third partner but things are not easy and predicted as they seem.
The movie’s cast is a stunning ensemble of talents, with Rajkumar Rao, Huma Qureshi, Sikander Kher, and Radhika Apte, in the lead roles.
Who Killed Monica?
Tamang, one of the employees of the company killed Monica on the orders of the CEO of the company he worked in because the CEO was the real father of Monica’s child.
As we know the blackmailing nature of Monica, she might have blackmailed him as well and ended up being killed by snake venom mixed in her wine.
Is Jayant really dead?
Jayant’s death (Rajkumar Rao) was probably the last thing planned in the movie. Gaurav, Rao’s sister’s fiance was the one who sent those snakes to Arvind (Bagavathi Perumal) and Jayant (Rao) after Nishikant’s funeral. So, it could be Gaurav who kept a snake at his house.
Summing up, the movie is a power-packed performance movie with twists and turns. A crime thriller by genre but the dialogues make the movie enjoyable and definitely give you good laugh.
‘Monica, O My Darling’ is streaming on Netflix.
