Leading streaming service Netflix has offered a few insights on its plans to introduce games for its subscribers in the near future.
Discussing the investment it would require, the company official Greg Peters announced that the initiative is a ‘multi-year effort. In order to keep the users hooked and fulfill its aim of attracting a new audience, this move would turn out to be successful and equally lucrative for the movie streaming pioneer, analysts say.
The plan came forward after a shortfall was noticed in the subscribers after the previous boom of pandemic coronavirus. The good news for the existing users is that no extra charges will be imposed on those interested in gaming. In order to extend its service portfolio, the movie steaming pioneer has hired the former Facebook veteran of video games, Mike Verdu as its gaming chief.
However, Paolo Pescatore and Jesse Cohen, the analysts of PP Foresight and Investing.com, didn’t support the idea of Netflix introducing games and referred to it as ‘a costly bold move’ with no success guaranteed.
