Earthquake hits parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
ISLAMABAD: An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 jolted parts of Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
50 including women and children were injured and one dead in Azad Kashmir’s Mirpur area when the roof collapsed of a building.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the intensity of the earthquake was 5.8 on the Richter scale while it was originated 12 kilometres away from Jhelum.

The PMD stated that the depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometres which spread panic amongst locals in affected areas.
The quake sent people in Lahore and Islamabad running into the streets, while tremors were also felt as far as New Delhi.
Tremors were also felt in Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Charsadda, Swat, Khyber, Abbottabad, Bajaur, Nowshera, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Nakyal, Gujranwala, Kasur, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Malakand, Kohat, Muree, Mardan and Kohistan,
The Mangla Dam had reportedly lost 900 megawatts’ worth of power after a powerful earthquake hit Pakistan’s northern areas, sources at the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) said after they were shut down earlier due to an earthquake-related safety scare.
