ISLAMABAD: The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on Friday announced to extend existing Nonpharmaceutical Interventions (NPIs) till 15 February 2022.
According to a notification, the coronavirus monitoring body said existing NPIs that were earlier implemented till 31 Jan 2022 were hereby extended till 15 February 2022.
A fresh review will be carried out on 10 February 2022, the NCOC added. “All federating units are requested to issue notifications and disseminate to all concerned at priority”, it added.
‘Pakistan logs highest COVID-19 case count since pandemic started’
Pakistan reached a new record as it reported over eight thousand coronavirus cases in a single day on Friday, the highest since the start of the pandemic nearly two years ago.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Pakistan reported 8,183 cases and 30 deaths in the previous 24-hour period. The national tally of coronavirus cases has reached 1,402,070 while the death toll stands at 29,192.
The positivity ratio was recorded at 11.92%, while the number of active has surged to 98,221 after the recent surge in cases, which is the highest level ever. There was an a recorded increase in testing as 68,624 tests were conducted in the previous day leading to new cases.
There are 1,351 people who still remain in critical condition including 113 new patients in the previous day. Overall 1,274,657 people have recovered from the virus, including 1,786 in the past day.
Sindh has recorded the highest number of cases and remains the worst affected region. The province has recorded 535,965 cases and 7,785 deaths while there are 51,222 active cases. Punjab has recorded 471,925 cases and 13,132 deaths, while the number of active cases in the province has also surged to 25,197.
