Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif expressed on Saturday gratitude and praised Pakistan’s leadership and armed forces following the announcement of a full ceasefire between India and Pakistan by US President Donald Trump.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the former premier said: “Thanks be to Allah that this has raised Pakistan’s standing,” he said. “I congratulate and commend Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and the Pakistan Armed Forces.”

He added that Pakistan is a peace-loving country that prioritises peace, but also knows how to defend itself.
“Long live Pakistan,” Nawaz added.
The ceasefire brings a temporary halt to days of heightened tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours, following a series of military strikes and counterstrikes across the Line of Control and beyond.
International observers have welcomed the development, calling for sustained dialogue and confidence-building measures to prevent further escalation.
