A remarkable catch was made in Narowal when a local youth, Arif, hauled a massive 65-kilogram fish from the River Ravi near the Kartarpur area.
The unusually large fish quickly drew attention due to its size and breed.
Arif later brought the fish to a local fish market, where a trader offered Rs90,000 for it. However, he declined the offer, saying he would only sell the prized catch for Rs100,000.
He described the fish as a high-quality “royal” variety, noting its distinctive thorn.
Such rare catches are not unheard of in the area. In October 2025, another Narowal resident caught an even larger fish weighing 92 kilograms from floodwaters in the village of Chandyali.
The fisherman had said at the time that it was the biggest fish he had ever caught, calling the experience a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
