ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has officially rolled out the latest update for its digital identity platform, launching version 5.6.6 of the PakID mobile application.
The update introduces critical verification features and expands essential public services directly to citizens’ smartphones, marking a major step forward in Pakistan’s digital governance journey.
A standout feature of this release is the highly anticipated “View Card” utility. This function allows applicants to preview an exact digital representation of their expected Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) or National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) before finalizing and submitting their applications.
By reviewing the card visually beforehand, users can identify typographical mistakes or administrative errors and navigate back to the corresponding data fields to correct them. This proactive measure is expected to significantly reduce processing delays caused by erroneous data entries.
In a simultaneous effort to decentralize and digitize provincial municipal services, NADRA has launched its Civil Registration Services through the PakID app in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Citizens in the province can now register major life events, including births, deaths, marriages, and divorces, directly through the mobile platform.
To ensure a smooth transition, NADRA is deploying this facility in structured phases. During the initial rollout, the registration services are fully functional across all Village and Neighborhood Councils within the Peshawar district. Following this initial phase, NADRA plans to gradually expand the service’s scope to encompass all remaining districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
As part of its commitment to user-centric development, NADRA has also engaged the public by actively soliciting feedback for future updates, inviting users to share what new features, integrations, or tools they would like to see integrated into upcoming versions of the PakID application.
