Lt General Munir Afsar, Chairman of the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA), has dismissed a director general for possessing a fraudulent educational degree.
Zulfiqar Ahmed, who was serving as the DG for Sargodha, was removed from his position after an investigation revealed that his BBA degree was fake.
Following NADRA’s request, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) conducted an inquiry and confirmed the findings regarding the degree of the dismissed DG.
The investigation revealed that the name of the college listed on the BBA degree was different from the one that existed at the time the degree was issued.
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) also upheld the HEC’s decision to revoke the degree’s equivalence. In response to a show-cause notice from NADRA, Zulfiqar Ahmed was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation.
As a result, the NADRA chairman initiated disciplinary proceedings against Zulfiqar Ahmed due to his inadequate response to the show-cause notice.
NADRA’s field operations are managed through eight Regional Headquarters, each overseen by a Director General who reports directly to senior management.
The primary responsibility of the Regional DGs is to ensure that all applicants receive exceptional customer service while adhering to NADRA’s registration rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
