KARACHI: The Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) is expected to join hands with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) in what has been speculated as grand merger of all MQM factions (except Afaq Group) to form a PDM-type alliance in urban Sindh. The alliance is expected to give tough time to PTI-led bloc in upcoming future political developments.
The development came after Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori called upon all the factions of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to unite on a single platform to resolve the issues of Karachi.
Governor Tessori visited the Pakistan House — the secretariat of the Pak Sarzameen Party. He held meetings with the party leaders, including Mustafa Kamal and offered to merge their party into a single platform under the leadership of MQM Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.
In the meantime, Mustafa Kamal along with party president Anis Kaimkhani called on PM Shehbaz Sharif last night. Officially, it was told that they discussed the political and economic situation in the meeting. During the meeting. They agreed on making joint efforts to bring stability to the country and solutions to end back-to-back crises, and that the PSP chairman assured PM Sharif of playing political and administrative roles for bringing stability to the country.
It is interesting to note that MQM ditched PTI-led coalition and sided with PDM to overthrow Imran Khan’s government in April this year, leveling series of allegations including the one of ignoring their demands regarding Karachi and urban Sindh.
However, since then, MQM had been continuously registering their complaints on the same subject, i.e. ignoring Karachi and urban Sindh’s plights. The party seems to have lost popular support, which was reflected in its defeat in by elections held in October on Karachi NA-239 against PTI Chief Imran Khan.
