KARACHI: The ill-fated parents of 14-year-old Dua Zehra Kazmi, who has been missing for a few days, have claimed that a local mosque refused to announce her daughter’s name due to sectarian issues.
Police have failed to trace the 14-year-old girl who disappeared from outside her house in Karachi’s Golden Town area within Al Falah police station limits on April 16.
Speaking to a private media outlet, her father claimed that when they approached the local mosque for help in announcing Dua Zehra as a missing person, they were refused, saying “We cannot announce this name because she’s from the Shia sect”.
Dua Zehra,14, went missing from Karachi on 16th April & is still not recovered. But what do you know what’s horrifying?

Her father also said that if his daughter is not recovered then he and his family will attempt suicide in front of the Governor House. “My daughter wasn’t even going to school for the past one and a half years,” her father said.
Meanwhile, Dua’s mother said, “I want my daughter alive. I am a mother. I will not accept her body like Zainab. I will keep the body outside the Governor House if she is found dead.”
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had directed the Karachi police chief to take immediate action for the safe recovery of the child.
Karachi Additional IGP Ghulam Nabi Memon has said that three special teams of police have been formed to rescue the 14-year-old girl. Each team has separate mandate, while SSP of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell is looking into the investigations, Memon said while talking to the media.
The Additional IGP Karachi was accompanied by DIG East Muqaddas Haider, SSP AVCC Zubair Nazir Sheikh and SSP Korangi Faisal Bashir Memon. Talking to reporters, Memon said, “We have assured the affected family of trying our best to rescue the girl as soon as possible.”
