Pakistan shines as Mohammad Rizwan makes record of most T20I runs as wicketkeeper
KARACHI: Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman Muhammad Rizwan has set several T20 records, including one for scoring the most T20 runs as a wicketkeeper.
According to data gathered by the MM News after today’s match between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Mohammad Rizwan completed 1500 T20 runs in the calendar year 2022 after which he became the third batsman to score more than 1500 runs twice in a year.
Rizwan achieved this feat in 2021 and 2022, Babar Azam in 2019 and 2021 while Gayle achieved this feat in 2012 and 2015. Mohammad Rizwan is the first batsman to achieve this feat for two consecutive years.
Besides these, Mohammad Rizwan also won the honor of scoring the most runs in the 58th T20 International innings of his career. He scored a total of 2337 runs in 58 innings. Before him, Babar Azam scored 2281 runs in 58 innings and Virat Kohli scored 2102 runs.
Mohammad Rizwan also won the honor of scoring the most T20I runs as a wicketkeeper, leaving England’s Jos Buttler behind. Jos Buttler scored 2119 runs in T20Is as a wicketkeeper.
