Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi canceled a two-day trip to Turkey after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan severely criticized India for its illegal 5th August action on Kashmir while addressing at United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The life in the valley remained paralyzed since 5th August after India put an end to Article-370. Concerning the severe condition in Indian occupied Kashmir, Erdogan said we cannot separate peace and stability from Kashmir issue. This dispute awaits a logical solution for 72 years.
In his address in New York, Turkish president stressed that, “In order for the Kashmiri people to look at a safe future together with their Pakistani and Indian neighbours, it is imperative to solve the problem through dialogue and on the basis of justice and equity, but not through collision.”
However, India was not pleased with Ankara’s intense backlash to Indian move and complete support to Pakistan’s take on the issue.
Not only this, Turkey also applauded Pakistan’s stance at Financial Action Task Force (FATF) meeting in Paris.
This trip to Turkey would have been Modi’s first solo visit. Earlier, the Indian premier attended G20 in Anatalya, Turkey in 2015.
